78 Arkansas Soldiers Return Home from D.C. Mission
The flight carrying members of the brigade's "Team Razorback" was greeted on the flight line by military leadership, fellow service members, and family before the Soldiers departed for their home communities across Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.
During the multi-month deployment, the detachment partnered with the District of Columbia’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to provide visible safety patrols, deterrent presence, and civil security across designated district corridors.
“We are extremely proud to welcome these 78 Soldiers back home,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Eric Evans, senior enlisted leader of the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade. "Their presence and professionalism in Washington, D.C. reflected the highest standards of the Arkansas National Guard. We extend our deepest gratitude to their families, employers, and the Fort Smith community for their unwavering support throughout this deployment."
In addition to conducting high-visibility security operations to support public safety, the Soldiers distinguished themselves by rendering immediate on-scene emergency trauma response and first aid to civilians during critical incidents, earning individual service commendations.
