Shooting Wounds Teenage Male in Washington, D.C.
"Alert: Shooting investigation in the Unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, NE. The scene is secure," the department said on X, adding that the incident did not occur at Union Station.
Authorities clarified that while the shooting happened in proximity to the major transportation hub, it did not take place on station property itself.
The department said that the victim "was transported conscious and breathing to a local hospital," noting that the shooting occurred near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and North Capitol Street.
Emergency medical personnel rushed the injured teen to a nearby medical facility where he remained alert and responsive, police confirmed. The incident unfolded at the junction of Massachusetts Avenue and North Capitol Street.
As of Friday evening, law enforcement officials had not disclosed details regarding potential suspects in the attack. Police have not released any information on possible suspects.
